Market Share Overview + Video
This report shows the overall market share for procedures and services of interest, as defined by your codeset, within the defined geography. Facilities are included in the market share report if the facility is located within the defined geography and if the facility performs at least one of the procedures or services of interest.
The geography from which the facilities used for market share comparison is determined by the geography selected in the report settings. The options for geography definition include the Core-Based Statistical Area (CBSA), the Hospital Referral Region (HRR), County or State.
Market Share
This table shows the overall market share for all patients matching the procedures of interest defined by your codeset. The table lists services, patients and year over year growth.
Market Share For Top Facilities
The facilities are listed in descending order determined by the sum of procedures or services of interest that were delivered, as defined within the codeset. For example, the facility listed first performed the most total services across the procedures and services of interest.
The table lists first the facility with the highest market share for the procedure and services of interest. The facility with the lowest market share for the procedures and services of interest is listed last. The hospital name, location, number of procedures, and market share percentage are included within the table.
Please note if there are fewer than 10 hospitals in the defined geography that deliver the procedures and services of interest, then the market share table will reflect that dynamic accordingly.
Market Share For Each Relevant Procedure
The following chart depicts the market share broken down by facility for each of the procedures and services of interest, as defined in your codeset.
Use this report to understand how the targeted facility compares to other facilities within the defined geography, focused only on the procedures and services of interest, as defined in your codeset. Investigating market share will uncover the relative strength or weakness of relevant procedures and services delivered by the targeted facility, relative to the patient’s other facility options within the local market.
Look across similar service lines to see if certain facilities capture different market shares for related service lines or acuity levels. Even though a facility may be performing more services as a whole, it might be underperforming in specific categories (such as patients without complications, with complications or with major complications), highlighting an opportunity or perhaps reflecting a strategic decision made by the facility to focus on certain case types.
